SoftRouter Plus is a flexible solution for TCP/IP LAN connectivity. With support for almost any installed network interfaces, the SoftRouter enables the interconnection of networks, or even different network types, without complex configurations. You no longer need sprawling TCP/IP networks: they can be segmented up, helping to offer the maximum of performance, with SoftRouter ensuring TCP/IP network traffic gets routed to the correct network segment. Coupled with this, the SoftRouter supports Wide Area Networks with full time or part time links offering remote access for other sites or home office based workers.
This diagram shows SoftRouter Plus interconnecting two different TCP/IP networks. The SoftRouter machine has two network interfaces: One 10baseT interface, and one older 10base2 interface. The SoftRouter transparently routes information from one network to the correct destination network. This keeps the two different networks free of unnecessary TCP/IP traffic, helping maintain performance.
This example diagram shows SoftRouter Plus being used to connect two Ethernet Networks at different speeds, via two network interfaces on the SoftRouter Machine. SoftRouter Plus passes TCP/IP traffic between the fast 100mbit Ethernet network and the slower 10mbit Ethernet network transparently, whilst also offering the ability to connect to the Internet or Wide Area Networks on demand.
Token Ring Network Interfaces are also supported, allowing the interconnection of mainframe or midrange systems to desktop computer systems. This example shows desktop PC's with access to an IBM AS400 midrange system and a Digital Midrange System. This allows for access to both systems as well as any other TCP/IP services available on the network. This could be further expanded with the addition of connections to branch offices or remote users. Further examples of different SoftRouter Plus configurations can be viewed in the SoftRouter Plus Examples section, or more information on Wide Area Networking and Remote Access functionality is available.
